End of Life for YubiKey Manager GUI: What are the alternatives?

Yubico officially announced the end of life for YubiKey Manager GUI on February 19, 2025, as part of its product lifecycle policy. Technical support will end on February 19, 2026.
This announcement applies only to the YubiKey Manager GUI. It does not affect the functioning of YubiKeys or other tools offered by Yubico.

What alternatives can be used?

Two fully maintained and supported alternatives remain available from Yubico. They cover most GUI use cases, depending on whether you prefer a command-line or graphical interface.

Yubico Authenticator

A graphical application (desktop and mobile) for managing OTP codes (TOTP, HOTP) with your YubiKey. It provides an intuitive interface for everyday use.

YubiKey Manager CLI (ykman)

The command-line version of the YubiKey manager, ideal for advanced users. It allows:

• management of OTP slots
• FIDO2 configuration
• PIV certificate administration
